Schrödinger's cat
Well, currently I am studying quantum mechanics which is quite challenging! And I just caught myself on the idea of Schrödinger's cat. I never actually could understand what is behind this paradox and only now I realized it. This experiment is a thought experiment proposed by Erwin Schrödinger in 1935. Schrödinger tried to illustrate how one can transfer microscopic parameters to large scale systems or to macroscopic parameters. Cat`s life or death depended on the state of subatomic particle. Imagine a cat which is kept inside a box. There is a radioactive substance that can decay or not. If the internal monitor detects the radioactivity, the flask is shattered with a hammer releasing the poison that kills the cat. The psi-function of the entire system would express this by having in it the living and dead cat mixed or smeared out in equal parts. Thus an indeterminacy originally restricted to the atomic domain becomes transformed into macroscopic indeterminacy, which can the be resolved by direct observation.
